12 people were killed after a car transporting guests leaving a wedding in Nepal went off a mountain route, according to authorities on Tuesday.
The event in the northern Nepali village of Chedagad left no survivors.
About 250 miles (400 km) northwest of the nation’s capital, Kathmandu, the tiny passenger truck overloaded and slid off the mountain road.
According to police, the disaster occurred late on December 12 Monday night, and by the time rescuers got there, eight people had already sadly died.
One person passed away in the hospital, while three more died on route.
The car tumbled nearly 650 feet (200 metres) down the mountainside after going off the road.
Police in Nepal have acknowledged that their inquiries into the event are still ongoing.
Poorly maintained roads and automobiles are often to blame for traffic accidents in Nepal’s hilly regions.
Similar tragedy occurred in October when a bus plunged into a valley in northern India.
The automobile was carrying around 45 passengers when it careened off the road and tumbled at least 1,640 feet while travelling along a perilous mountain roadway in the state of Uttarakhand.
Incredibly, 20 persons were saved, according to the chief of state police.
As they dragged up a wounded individual, officials could be seen cleaning the area of shrubs and trees to aid with the rescue effort.
Prior to being removed on a stretcher, rescuers also used ropes to remove a dead body.
