16-year-old boy driving on Monaro Highway, ACT, kills two people

After reportedly crashing a vehicle into a tree in heavy weather, killing two teenage girls in the horrific collision, a young driver has been accused.

Following the deadly collision on the Monaro Highway in Hume, ACT on Saturday night, the 16-year-old boy was charged with two charges of negligent driving causing death.

The youngster was additionally charged with one count each of driving while an unaccompanied learner, failing to stop and offer aid, and violating a good behavior condition.

On Monday, he is anticipated to appear before the ACT Children’s Court.

According to the police, the automobile included four people: the 16-year-old driver, a second 16-year-old guy, and two girls, 14 and 15.

The Toyota car apparently belonged to the group of teenagers who were “joyriding” when it veered off the road, crashed through a row of fences, and struck a tree.

After the collision, the two adolescent lads reportedly ran away, but police soon located them.

Shortly after, police found them in houses, according to ACT Police.

“They got medical care and helped the Major Collision Team’s investigators with their inquiries.”

Emergency personnel were unable to instantly identify the make of the automobile because of how severely it was wrecked.

The collision may have happened on Saturday night, according to first responders who arrived at the scene about 8am on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, a frightened motorist who was driving by the scene dialed 911 to summon police and paramedics.

At the scene, the two girls were pronounced dead.

The two male teenagers were questioned by detectives on the cause of the collision and if “extreme speed could have been a role.”
