The Justice Department has issued 40 subpoenas in order to gather evidence concerning the acts of former President Donald J. Trump and his associates in connection with the 2020 election and the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The New York Times says that Mike Roman and Boris Epshteyn, two Trump advisors, had their phones taken as evidence.
Following many months of comparatively quiet, the move indicates somewhat of an escalation in the inquiry only two months before the midterm elections.
The inquiry into Trump’s storage of secret materials at his Mar-a-Lago residence is ongoing at the same time as the January 6 probe.
There will be more information on this growing topic soon.
