5-year-old drowns in Rio Grande with mum

According to Mexico’s National Immigration Institute, a 5-year-old girl perished while trying to cross the Rio Grande into Texas on Tuesday.

On Monday, when the child and her mother tried to cross the river, the flood carried her away. The mother and infant, according to KVIA-TV, were from Guatemala.

The woman claimed to be holding her kid while being carried away by the river while clutching her daughter.

Across the border from El Paso, Texas, in the downstream area of Ciudad Juarez, the child’s corpse was discovered.

Four more South American migrants were rescued after being discovered stuck in a nearby river.

In a another instance, the U.S. Border Patrol said on Tuesday that it had saved a Venezuelan national who was attempting to cross the Rio Grande illegally. Strong currents caused the individual to “struggle to keep afloat and get stuck on one of the pillars” of the Americas Bridge.

The man was saved by Border Patrol personnel, who transported him to safety on the airboat. He was examined before being brought into prison and processed.

Two migrants were discovered floating in the Inspiration Canal in Mission, Texas, unresponsive, according to a story from CBS DFW last month. Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol officers were able to rescue them.

In the river near the Texas border, migrant rescues are often necessary, and attempted crossings may sometimes be fatal.

A Texas National Guard man drowned in the Rio Grande in April while attempting to save two migrants who looked to be dying there.

A young father and his daughter who perished while attempting to cross the Rio Grande in south Texas were captured in a heartbreaking snapshot in 2019.
