Tuesday, February 1, 2022 – – – Musalia Mudavadi, the leader of the African National Congress, has disclosed the true reason for his support for Deputy President William Ruto.
Mudavadi stated categorically that he joined Ruto in order to defeat ODM leader Raila Odinga in round one at St. Faith Parish Church in Rongai.
Mudavadi insisted that his decision was well-considered, and that it was the only way to avoid a run-off in the General Election on August 9.
“We want to take victory in the first round of the elections. Round one. Hatutaki kurudia, tunataka tushinde round one… Sasa kwa wale ambao wanababaika, waambie those are the effects of the earthquake na earthquake inaendelea,” Mudavadi said.
While defending his earthquake announcement, the former Sabatia MP said that he ditched the One Kenya Alliance where he was a co-principal with Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper party, Gideon Moi of Kanu, and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula after the realisation that the coalition was a government project meant to puncture Ruto’s State House bid in round one.
He further defended his decision to team up with the second in command, saying it was well thought out after wide consultations within ANC.
“As ANC party, we had broad consultations and we made our pronouncements in broad daylight and not at night that we were taking a different course.
“So, we did not betray anybody,” he said.
