‘You must dream during the day’: Hlaudi Motsoeneng on ‘Podcast and Chill’

Former SABC executive turned politician, Hlaudi Motsoeneng recently appeared on MacG’s Podcast and Chill where he discussed the 90 percent rule, being homeless, the SABC, Cyril Ramaphosa, and Jacob Zuma.

HLAUDI MOTSOENENG: ‘I REMOVED DR PHIL AND DAYS OF LIVES’ 

Media personality and former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng was recently interviewed on Podcast and Chill where he revealed he was once homeless and why he removed soapies such as Days of Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Motsoeneng introduced a 90 percent rule where he instructed all public radio stations to play 90 percent local music.
Motsoeneng vowed to keep the 90% local radio content policy going and had set his sights on TV stations where he removed international shows such as Days of Lives, Dr Phil, and many more…
He revamped the SABC 3 channel so that South African-produced content makes up 80% of everything aired at the station
The interview with the politician primarily focused on Motsoeneng’s time at the SABC and his political career.

HIS VIEWS ON PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA  

Hlaudi Motsoeneng also reviewed South Africa under President Cyril Ramaphosa and former president Jacob Zuma.

“You see what I have observed about President Ramaphosa, he is not a man who can make decisions.”
“He seems like some who is being controlled by remotes from all the corners and he is in-between.”
“Remember, he said he is coming with a new dawn, what see is new doom.”

He believes South Africans are suffering and they will continue to suffer as long as Ramaphosa is in charge.

“I have not seen the new dawn, it’s new Doom.”

‘I WAS HOMELESS’  

Motsoeneng also touched on his upbringing where he revealed that he was homeless at one point and that he was raised by his grandmother.

“I chose to leave home because I was staying with my cousins who were smoking nyaope.”

When asked about his education Motsoeneng said he doesn’t need matriculation or a degree because he believes in himself.
“I am a degree myself.”
He also advised the youth to go after what they want, to dream when they’re awake, and to not just focus on getting degrees and end up being unemployed afterward.
