Chocolate Bark Treats for the health-conscious snack time

As somebody who likes eating healthy snacks, you often choose the dark chocolates for your treats. These chocolates are often thin squares of goodness with reduced sugar and lots of flavour. However, you have friends coming over and you want to treat your health-conscious friends with something great. Not do these Chocolate Bark Treats have low calories, but they are a great way to get creative.
Chocolate, especially darker variations, have a good amount of antioxidants. These antioxidants are great at helping your body get rid of those pesky free radicals that can negatively impact the health of every cell in your body. But, the upside is that chocolate tastes amazing too. These Chocolate Bark Treats are super thin crackly pieces of goodness. You can decorate them for themed parties, add some more nuts or dried fruits to up the goodness. Each batch can serve 10 and each serving is only 175 calories, making it the perfect health snack.

Ingredients

  • 100 g dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids)

  • 100 g white chocolate

  • 2 tsp coconut oil

  • 50 g almonds

  • 50 g sultanas

  • 50 g dried cranberries

Method

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Microwave the dark chocolate and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil for 30 – 60 seconds, stirring every 10 seconds until melted.
  • Mix in half of the nuts and dried fruit, and pour into the prepared baking sheet.
  • Microwave the white chocolate and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil for 30 – 60 seconds, stirring every 10 seconds until melted.
  • Drizzle the white chocolate over the dark chocolate and using a toothpick, make swirling patterns.
  • Scatter the rest of the nuts and dried fruit over the chocolate bark, and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Once cooled, break into approximately 10 ‘shards’ and enjoy!
