Umuada Igbo Nigeria and Diaspora Visits COOUTH, Motherless Babies Homes In Awka

Umuada Igbo Nigeria and in Diaspora has paid a charity visit to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku-Awka and motherless babies homes within Awka capital territory.

 

Correspondent Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that the Non-governmental and Non-profit organization; Umuada Igbo Nigeria and Diaspora, which seeks to extend the role of women as peace builders, push for growth and development of the society through peaceful coexistence, among other things, started their visit at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku-Awka, where they made financial donations to three patients to help offset their medical bills.

The group later visited Model Community Children’s Home, Ifi. te Awka, Perpetual Help School for the Less Privileged, Amawbia and St. Faith Community Children’s Home, Okpunno, where they equally donated bags of rice, tubers of yam, bags of flour, cartoons of noodle, among other items.

 

In her remark, the Anambra State Coordinator of the group, Dr. Cordelia Uzoezie noted that the outreach programme was supported by its diaspora members in order to positively touch lives of the less privileged and vulnerable, adding that the group was founded by Lolo Kate Ezeofor; with headquarters in Enugu State, and is open to women of Igbo extraction from the age of eighteen years and above; for impact in the world around them; starting from their families.

The former Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Lady Chinwe Nnedum, who is a member of the group and part of the visit, appreciated their diaspora members for their support and charged other members to be steadfast in their efforts to move the group forward.

 

On her part, a mobilizer for the group, Mrs. Winnie Arinze emphasized that the group has continued to give needed supports for the growth and development of the society, advising other women to effectively play their roles starting from the family.

 

The group was received by the Information Officer at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku-Awka Lovelyn Ezeokunne, Head of Department of Child Development, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Mrs. Nkechi Anazodo, Coordinator of Model Community Children’s Home, Reverend Sister Philomena Akuchukwu, while Reverend Sister Ngozi Okeke and Mrs. Amarachi Anene received the group at Perpetual Help School for the Less Privileged and St. Faith Community Children’s Home respectively, who thanked the group for their donations.
