Edo, Udacity commence training of 800 women in web development, data analytics, others

The Edo State Government in partnership with Udacity, a global online education platform, has launched the EdoWorX programme to train the next generation of digital work professionals so as to exploit opportunities in the digital economy.
Through the partnership, over 800 women will receive training on high-demand tech skills including web development, data analytics and digital marketing.
The EdoWorX program is being managed by the Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs).
According to the Managing Director of EdoJobs, Mrs. Ukinebo Dare: “As part of the continuous efforts by His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to create an enabling environment for the youth in Edo State, the Edo State Government through Edo State Skills Development Agency (Edojobs) in partnership with Udacity- a global online tech education platform, has launched the EdoWorX program.
This is a tech upskilling initiative to create the next generation of digital work professionals in top digital fields and enable the youth to harness the opportunities available within and outside the Edo State.
“EdoWorx initiative offers scholarships to train Edo State women on in-demand tech skills in the following fields such as Web Development, Data Analytics and Digital Marketing.
This free program is sponsored by Edo State Government and World Bank, and powered by EdoJobs in partnership with Udacity, for all women within the state to learn and boost their careers in technology.”
“The launch of the programme is in line with Governor Obaseki’s agenda to equip and prepare the Edo State workforce for digital jobs through an online marketplace,” she added.
The Managing Director further stated, “Today officially marks the virtual on-boarding of 800 women into the EdoWorx program after the successful completion of the registration and assessment processes.
“This first batch of trainees will begin their learning journey on the Udacity Learning Management System (LMS) in areas where they have chosen such as web development, data analytics and digital marketing.”
“This is great news for all women who are residents of Edo State and are passionate about starting a career in any of the top tech fields in the world because registration is still ongoing for all interested persons to apply,” Dare noted.
She added: “This exciting and potentially life-changing free program provides beneficiaries with specialized hands-on tech training, career and freelancing coaching, access to online jobs after graduation, a community of experts, and globally recognized certifications.
The courses are taught online and can be completed at your own pace when and where it’s convenient for you.”
