Second edition of ‘For the Love of the Prophet’ Award launched, with prizes totalling AED1 million

FUJAIRAH, 2nd June, 2022 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, has emphasised the importance of multidisciplinary initiatives that promote the noble teachings of Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH), through research, literary and artistic expression.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the directives and support of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, for fostering related talents and nurturing generations that study the life of the Prophet and Islamic history, to help disseminate Islam’s message of moderation and tolerance to the world.

Mohammed bin Hamad’s statement came during a press conference where the announcement was made to launch the second edition of the ‘For the Love of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH’ award under the Al Bader Initiative, and is organised in cooperation and partnership between the Office of H.H. the Crown Prince of Fujairah and the Ministry of Culture and Youth.

The award comprises four categories, namely poetry, painting, calligraphy and multimedia, with prizes totalling AED 1,000,000.

Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, praised the Al Bader Initiative and the ‘For the Love of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH’ award, which help foster a generation of talented youth who follow the noble values of tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity taught by Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

The world is moving towards enhancing the role of culture and arts in promoting intercultural dialogue and opening up to new creative concepts that will contribute to disseminating meaningful messages, Al Kaabi explained.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi for this strategic initiative. The Ministry of Culture and Youth will spare no effort to support it, especially since it aligns with the objectives of the Al Burda Award,” she concluded.

The award is divided to a national and international award. The local award targets school students in the following age groups: (6-10 years) and (11-17 years), and includes a Youth category (18 – 25 years). Participation in the national award is open to all nationalities residing in the UAE. As for the international category, targeted participants include all ages and all countries of the world.

Winning artworks will also be published on the Al Bader website and social media platforms. Both winning and qualified artworks will be exhibited in a special exhibition.

The award also includes an AED 300,000 fund to finance a residency programme, which will help provide the most creative participants in the various categories of the award with professional training in their creative fields. The deadline for participation is 25th September 2022.
