After a car was left abandoned at Gatwick Airport, prompting police to order an evacuation, a man has been taken into custody.
At 5.30 p.m. on Friday, the vehicle was left in the drop-off parking space at London’s airport’s North Terminal.
A cordon was established, according to Sussex Police, who also described the situation as “ongoing.”
A guy was detained at the airport, according to a Sussex Police spokeswoman.
The spokesman said: ‘We are currently dealing with an incident at Gatwick Airport.
‘A man has been detained.
‘As a precaution, a cordon is in place at the drop-off parking area at the North Terminal.’
One traveler who was there tweeted to Gatwick Airport to request assistance: “Chaos, is there any possibility you might at least provide the local personnel with information?” Presently, not so good.
Someone else wrote: “Incident? There are no shuttles that go from the south terminal to the north terminal. There was a long line of worried individuals here, but no officials could be seen. Please let us know.
‘Abandoned automobile causes congestion at Gatwick Airport,’ another person said.
“A guy has been apprehended in connection with the event, which isn’t being investigated as a possible act of terrorism.”
