Julieta Valls Noyes, assistant secretary of state for population, refugees, and migration (PRM), will visit Geneva from July 16 to 19 and Uganda from July 9 to 15.
While in Uganda, Assistant Secretary Noyes will meet with representatives of international organizations and the Ugandan government to discuss the recent influx of refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and to coordinate on humanitarian priorities for the more than 1.5 million refugees that are currently being hosted in Uganda.
She will also travel to refugee camps to speak with people there about their needs for food, shelter, education, and protection while being hosted in Uganda.
In order to discuss humanitarian concerns impacting the world’s most vulnerable populations, Assistant Secretary Noyes will meet with international humanitarian organizations, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and other donor nations while in Geneva.
