After seeing photos of two of her female friends kissing and baring their breasts at her official house, Finland’s party-loving prime minister apologised today.
The ironic photo was shot next to Sanna Marin’s desk in front of a formal blue backdrop board in the office where she often appears in public speaking videos for the government.
In the humorous shot, one of the topless ladies concealed her modesty by covering her bare breasts with an official sign that said “Finland.”
When Ms. Marin participates in international video conferences and often speaks with other leaders of the European Union and the rest of the globe, the sign typically rests on her desk.
Ms. Marin, 36, was compelled to acknowledge today that the screenshotted video image should ‘never have been taken’ when it started trending on Twitter.
She has come under criticism recently when several recordings of her dancing passionately with companions on a night out in Helsinki were released.
One of the two attractive women in the racy photo is Ms. Marin’s stunning blonde friend Sabina Särkkä, 33, who is now a social media influencer, according to MailOnline.
An further video that was released earlier today shows the former model and Ms Marin on her infamous night out in a Finnish nightclub earlier this month dancing provocatively.
Today, Ms. Marin disclosed that the contentious topless photograph was captured at her office, which is located on the ground level of her opulent official Swedish-style mansion named Kesäranta, next to the restrooms.
She said that image was shot on the evening of Sunday, July 10, this year, as she was entertaining a bunch of her friends in her backyard. Earlier that day, they had visited Finland’s Ruisrock rock festival.
Ms. Marin said that her companions just entered her home to use the restroom, and they took advantage of the chance to record the video that was subsequently screenshotted.
It was first shared on Ms Särkkä’s TikTok account with a different video of her dancing in the grounds of Ms Marin’s home, which was constructed in 1863 on a remote waterside property with its own jetty, together with other friends of Ms Marin.
The second video showed the group, including Ms. Särkkä, strolling along a road next to a tennis court under the direction of 26-year-old Finnish singer-songwriter Alma.
Ms. Särkkä, a former beauty queen, was sporting a leather jacket, denim shorts, and a cowboy hat after allegedly attending the rock concert with the prime minister.
Ms. Marin was also seen at the event sporting a black leather jacket and a pair of denim shorts, which earned her the title of “the coolest head of government in Europe” online.
The contentious photographs are said to have been removed by Ms. Särkkä from her TikTok account, but not before they were screenshotted and shared on Twitter.
When Ms. Marin addressed an unplanned news conference today at Finland’s Ambassadors Day, reporters questioned her about the pictures.
I saw this video this morning, she said. They do really hail from Kesäranta. They were captured on camera on the Sunday after Ruisrock. I was visiting friends at the time in Kesäranta for the evening.
“Guests have also utilised the restrooms at Kesäranta, which are located below.” Evidently, one of these photos was shot there.
“I apologise; I believe that photo is incorrect. Other than that image, which shouldn’t have been taken, nothing extraordinary occurred that evening.
As Prime Minister, I would naturally wish to concentrate on the important political concerns, Ms. Marin said.
She said, however, in reference to the debate around the footage of her wearing loose hair, “Of course, I realise that the media also wants to talk about it. I am powerless over it
Personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the fact that even at this level of politics, we have free time that we spend with friends.
We all have different lifestyles, and it is always the responsibility of the electorate to assess the citizens’ points of view, determine whether they are acceptable, and express their opinions. I have faith in the judgement of Finns.
Ms. Särkkä, a former beauty queen who represented Finland in the 2012 Miss World competition, has been on several Finnish TV reality series and is currently a social media influencer with 90,000 Instagram followers.
Just six days ago, she disclosed in an Instagram story that she and her husband, Ossi Kivimäki, had separated.
The pair, who tied the knot in Greece in 2019, had previously discussed their desire to leave Helsinki and transform a century-old log cabin into “the house of their dreams.”
The new video was obviously shot in the wee hours of the morning since dawn can be seen peeking through the balcony of the popular Klubi nightclub on Helsinki’s rooftop terrace.
The sight of their prime leader having fun can be observed as other young revellers watch in awe.
Before going to the club, Ms. Marin, who is married and has a 4-year-old daughter, was previously seen dancing at two residences with her Finnish celebrity pals.
One video had someone chanting “flour gang” in the background, which sparked concern about possible drug use as “flour” is Finnish slang for cocaine.
The allegations prompted Ms. Marin to conduct a news conference last Friday when she vehemently denied ever using narcotics and said she hadn’t seen anybody else doing so during her night out.
She admitted to taking a drug test to demonstrate her innocence, and yesterday, her official spokeswoman verified that the findings were negative.
The Finnish newspaper Seiska received a leaked copy of the film and breathlessly claimed that it showed Ms. Marin dancing “in a very heated setting.”
‘In the video, the married housewife dances with Sabina very close, with her legs wide apart,’ the magazine exultantly said.
The prime minister grabs her buddy by the back of her costume because the mood at the dance is so heated.
In Finland, the video generated a fierce outcry, with some social media users branding Seiska “crazy” for sharing it.
‘There is literally nothing sexy, nothing intimate, nothing unusual, yet this is how ladies have fun with one other,’ one Twitter user said.
Added another: “Which is worse? asking why the ladies were dancing together or making suggestions that Sabina is not appropriate company for married housewives.
The previous footage showed the Finnish singer-songwriter Uusivirta at one point placing his face against Ms. Marin’s neck in what some sections of the local media have interpreted as a kiss.
Additionally, it was stated that during the wild night out, she allegedly sat on the laps of two additional guys and danced in a similar manner with another two men.
Uusivirta, who divorced his wife last year, denied any rumours that he was dating the president of his nation.
There has been widespread conjecture regarding the nature of the connection between myself and prime minister Sanna Marin, he said in a message on his social media platforms.
Heart on hand We are friends, and nothing untoward has occurred, so I’ll simply tell it like it is. I’ll stop making public comments on the subject. Enjoy your weekend!
In the early hours of August 7, the tapes were recorded at the Klubi nightclub, which is a component of the downtown Helsinki complex of restaurants and bars known as Ravintola Teatteri.
The nightclub, one of the hottest in Finland’s capital, draws a well-to-do audience of young and old partygoers.
A collection of sexual images of nude women are displayed on the walls of a lounge area where partygoers may unwind with beverages, as previously reported by MailOnline.
Instead of lean catwalk models, the four full frontal paintings all depict women who seem to be naturally beautiful, representing Finland’s permissive attitude toward nudity.
The Teatteri staff has declined to comment on their prime minister’s visit to the building.
We are not saying anything, a waitress assured a MailOnline reporter. Nobody in this room will speak with you.
“We are unable to confirm the presence of our prime minister.” How is your prime minister, Boris Johnson, doing, though?
Last Friday, Ms. Marin denied that Uusivirta had kissed her during their dance at a news conference held at her official house in Helsinki. Instead, she suggested that he may have leaned closer her to say something.
She vehemently defended her right to enjoy herself when out with friends, stating that doing so did not conflict with her job responsibilities.
Ms. Marin said that she had only had a modest quantity of alcohol and had not even experienced morning hangovers.
Some critics criticised her for acting in a manner unbefitting of a global leader, while others said that she may not have been able to make a wise choice if a crisis had come while she was out having fun.
However, many others are more laid back and believe she should be allowed to let her hair down like anybody else.
In an effort to demonstrate their support for her, women from Finland and all around the globe have shared a number of films of themselves dancing in different settings.
Others on social media have contrasted her dancing skills favourably to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s awkward dance floor antics, implying that she would easily win a “prime ministers’ dance off” between the UK and Finland.
Ms. Marin is said to have spent the night between 2.30 and 4.30 am at the nightclub before being transported to her official property, Kesärantain, a stunning waterfront villa in a quiet neighbourhood of Meliahti in the heart of Helsinki.
She adamantly denied using an official vehicle to get to the club, but she wouldn’t specify what kind of automobile she had departed in, raising the possibility that she may have placed herself in danger by using a cab.
She retorted angrily when asked whether she had to wait in line to collect her vehicle, saying, “I believe this is pretty ridiculous and unacceptable to use such words.”
As I already said, I walked to the vehicle alone and drove home alone. The next morning, I awoke early and in a good mood.
