Prince William was instrumental in Saturday’s reunion between himself, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle.
Putting up a united front, the royal couples appeared outside Windsor Castle to greet members of the public and admire floral tributes left in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on Thursday at the age of 96. Markle and Middleton both donned black evening gowns, while their husbands wore blue suits with black ties.
William sent a last-minute invitation to his brother and sister-in-law, prompting the reunion of the couples previously nicknamed the “Fab Four” by the British press. William, who now has the title of Prince of Wales, invited the Sussexes to join him and Middleton for a royal walkabout in front of Windsor Castle, according to a Kensington Palace official.
According to The Times, a representative for the Prince of Wales stated that he believed the family’s display of solidarity during a particularly difficult time was significant.
According to the publication, lengthy talks were required to reunite the quartet in public, postponing their appearance at Windsor Castle by 45 minutes. Representatives for both spouses did not reply promptly to an inquiry from Insider.

Long-standing reports suggest a split exists between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and William and Middleton. After Harry and Markle’s “step back” from royal life in January 2020 and an explosive appearance with Oprah Winfrey the following year, Mikhaila Friel of Insider stated that the couple’s relationship with Harry’s royal relatives remained strained.
The former members of the “Fab Four” will undoubtedly spend more time together for the time being.
Markle and Harry, who initially flew from the United States to the United Kingdom for charity work prior to the Queen’s death, are reportedly residing at their former property, Frogmore Cottage. It is situated on the Windsor estate of the Crown, where Middleton and William just relocated with their children.
Markle and Harry will remain in the United Kingdom until after the Queen’s funeral on September 19, according to a spokesperson for the pair who talked to Today.
