Nearly forty years after “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” was filmed, co-stars Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan reconnected at Disney’s D23 Expo this past weekend.
The 51-year-old Quan posted a picture of the couple cuddling and grinning on Instagram on Saturday.
He was just 12 years old when he portrayed Jones’ charming youthful sidekick Short Round in the 1984 movie.
The actor allegedly made reference to one of his movie lines by writing, “‘I love you Indy,’” in the post. After 38 years, “Indiana Jones and Short Round reunited.”
The next year, Quan went on to portray the role of Data in “The Goonies,” before taking a 35-year break from acting, according to Entertainment Weekly.
He admitted to EW in February that there weren’t many options for him to perform in the United States after he stopped working on the blockbuster movies.
The former child star later attended the University of Southern California to study cinema, but he said that it wasn’t until he watched Michelle Yeoh in the 2018 film “Crazy Rich Asians” that he thought about returning to acting.
“Since I haven’t had an agent in years, I contacted a buddy who is one and said, “Hey, would you want to rep me?” He replies “yeah,”” Quan told the outlet.
“A call about this production, which was written and directed by the Daniels and starred Michelle Yeoh, came to me two weeks later.
I thought, “Oh my God!” Michelle, after all, is the reason I’m even considering returning to acting in the first place.”
Written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the project was the interdimensional comedy-drama “Everything Everywhere All at Once” scheduled for release in 2022.
Yeoh’s on-screen spouse Waymond was portrayed by Quan, who also appeared in the movie with Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Stephanie Hsu.
Insider’s request for comment was not immediately answered by Quan or Ford representatives.
At the fan gathering on Saturday, Quan and Ford, both 80, shared information about their next endeavours.
Ford debuted the first trailer for “Indiana Jones 5” as Quan was revealed to join the cast of the Disney+ series “Loki” for season two.
According to EW, the actor also announced that it would be his last instalment in the series in an emotional statement to the crowd.
“The “Indiana Jones” films are filled with mystery and imagination, but they also have a lot of heart.
We have a movie that will kick your ass and a truly human narrative to convey, he remarked, later adding, “This is it! I won’t stoop for you once again.”
