Staff member hurt in probable terrorist attack at a Boston University


According to Northeastern University, a box that went off at about 7 o’clock on Tuesday night had been sent to the school and exploded when a staff member opened it.

According to officials, NBC Boston, the box was delivered to the Leon Street building about 7 p.m. Tuesday night and exploded soon after.

Three hours after the incident, Holmes Hall was secured, according to a tweet from the Northeastern University Police Department.

Tuesday night after opening the item, the employee was brought to the hospital.

According to a tweet from Boston Emergency Medical Services, the employee is said to have suffered minor injuries that are not life-threatening.

In the vicinity of the Museum of Fine Arts on Huntington Avenue, there has been a complaint of a second suspicious package, and Boston police are now investigating.

The Boston Bomb Squad, Boston Police, Boston fire and Boston EMS responded to the incident after the package reportedly detonated at about a quarter past seven on Tuesday night.

A 7News reporter speaking to authorities on the ground said the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are currently coordinating with Boston Police and Terrorism had not been ruled out.

‘We were in class and then we saw two policemen walk through the building and then as soon as we look out the window, we see a fire truck with the lights on blazing,’ said Issacs.

‘Our teacher is like “I gotta see what’s going on,” and he sees that the fire truck is going and there’s a police car outside and as that happened, instantly the fire alarm starts going off.
