A severely decomposed old man and lady were discovered in the residence of former Rhode Island mayor Susan Menard, who served for 14 years.

WJAR reports that officers in the city of Woonsocket made the tragic finding.

It has not yet been determined which of the two bodies recovered in the house belonged to the former mayor.

A medical examiner is conducting an examination of the severely decayed bodies.

The police have stated that there are currently no indications of foul play.
