In Connecticut, a 250-pound black bear attacked a 10-year-old child playing in his grandparents’ garden and attempted to pull him away before being fatally shot by police, according to officials.
According to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the kid was assaulted on Sunday at 11 a.m. in the town of Morris. He was transferred to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to be treated.
The bear was killed by responding officers from the state police and the DEEP’s environmental conservation squad, according to the authorities.
The boy’s grandpa told the Republican-American of Waterbury about the terrifying incident. When the bear appeared from the dense woods behind the home, according to James Butler’s grandson, he was playing near a trampoline.
I heard him cry “bear,” and when I glanced up, I saw the bear attempting to pull him across the yard with his leg in its teeth, according to Butler.
According to Butler, who is in a wheelchair, he rolled his chair in the direction of the bear and flung a metal bar at its head.
The bear let go of the youngster but then seized him again and attempted to roll him onto his back with its claws, according to the boy’s grandpa.
Butler said that a neighbor who had been alerted by the boy’s screaming went over and used a pipe and loud shouting to frighten the bear away.
The bear reappeared after Butler and his grandson had reached safety inside the home, going up a wheelchair ramp and staring at them through a screen door, according to Butler.

The youngster had bite marks on his foot and ankle, a puncture wound to one leg, and claw marks on his back, according to Butler and his wife Christina Anderson, who was inside the home when the bear struck.
