Terry Pheto, an award-winning actress and film producer, elicited strong reactions from South African women after tweeting that she “fears” the men in the country.
Pheto responded to a photograph of the front page of the Sowetan newspaper with the question “How many more must die?” by writing, “I fear South African men more than anything else.”
After 549 children, some as young as one year old, were slain in the first half of this year, the article highlighted the epidemic of child murder.
Recent reports indicated that four-year-old Bokgabo Poo had gone missing. The infant was discovered dead and mangled in an open veld in Tamboville last week. The crime has horrified the entire nation.

The actress, who is preparing for her role in the US drama series “King Shaka,” sparked a discourse on social media in which other women shared her sentiments while men were insulted.
@jabumokonene commented on Pheto’s post, “Run to Lion for safety between a lion and SA men.”
Between the lion and the SA men, seek refuge in the lion.

@OBS16110453 commented that she is unable to allow her daughter out of her sight since she knows Pheto’s dread.
“I now understand, Sisi; I fully get your anxieties. I cannot allow my daughter to leave my sight. What if something were to occur? I’ll recover!

Terry,
I am angry whenever this occurs.
Thugs take advantage. We are thankful that the suspect has been apprehended. The only thing necessary is to make an example of the offender.
