The Indaba Show: Prime Circle’s 21 years and Ross Learmonth’s future

Ross Learmonth, the lead vocalist of the iconic South African band Prime Circle, appears on the Indaba Show to discuss the band’s 21th anniversary and the possibility of going solo.

Steven Taylor, the show’s host, questioned Learmonth about his experiences working in the business for more than 20 years and having records go platinum.

Learmonth said, “It seems sort of odd. “Because I feel like time is passing more quickly than it should have when I look at the boys. It simply passed me by. There is so much that you still feel you need to show that we almost feel like we’re just getting started. We’ve never had the impression that we wrote the song. We have consistently sought it out.

The family of Learmonth, who was born in Scotland but relocated to South Africa when he was quite young, sent him to Middleburg, Mpumalanga, for his education.

“Music was kind of a calling for me. It was a constant source of emotional distress for him.

The five members of Prime Circle, a rock band that was founded in Witbank in 2001, have produced internationally recognized rock singles including “She Always Gets What She Wants” and “Breathing.”

On October 28 and 29, the band will perform two “21 Years on Tour” concerts at the Montecasino in Johannesburg.

Learmonth said that he has lately started creating solo music and may later this year release an EP that may develop into an album.

“I’ve wanted to go solo for a long time. Something has been beckoning to me about it. I tried to meet songwriters in New York, London, and Nashville just before I was locked down so I could create something that sounded distinct,” he added.
