Sunday morning in the city, an e-bike rider was struck and murdered by a hit-and-run car, according to police.
The guy was pedaling his bicycle west on West 24th Street near Seventh Avenue in Chelsea at 1:20 a.m. when he was struck from behind by the driver of an Infiniti vehicle, according to police.
The automobile was discovered to be vacant.
The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital with head and body injuries, according to the police. He was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The automobile was discovered vacant at the intersection of West 24th Street and Seventh Avenue.
Police said the 24-year-old was discovered and detained. Charges were pending.
