Billy Napier, the head football coach at Florida, has addressed the arrest of quarterback Jalen Kitna for child pornography.
In his first public comments since the quarterback was dismissed from the team earlier this month because to the allegations, Napier described the incident as “a horrible, awful occurrence for everyone involved.”
Napier stated, “I believe that every effort is being made to assist all those affected.” Obviously, Jalen will need to move forward. However, it is a struggle, and I applaud our leadership.
“We have done all possible to assist our athletes and staff. However, as you mentioned, there are certain drawbacks to that. We are turning the page and proceeding.”
Late in November, police were notified that Kitna, 19, had uploaded photographs of an adult man engaged in sexual activity with a minor girl to a Discord server. Upon discovering further photographs during a search of his apartment, police arrested him.
Two counts of distribution of child exploitation material and three counts of possession of child pornography are pending against Kitna, who was released on bond. Former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, his father, testified on his side in court.
With Kitna off the club and starter Anthony Richardson declaring for the NFL Draft this week, Napier’s Gators will likely have to seek for a new quarterback or two during the offseason.
Richardson will not play in the bowl game since he is preparing for the draft. Jack Miller, a transfer from Ohio State, will start his first college game against Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl.
