During his participation at the film festival, Chan recalled that he had decided to leave Hollywood because he believed “Rush Hour” would fail at the box office.

The star of “Rumble in the Bronx” revealed that he was initially hesitant to undertake the movie.
“My manager informed me that there is a script titled ‘Rush Hour.’ I answered, ‘No, Hong Kong police? I’m not going to do it.’ He suggested, “Jackie, why don’t you try one more time?” I replied, “Okay, this is the final time.’”
Chan continued by stating that he received a call from Ratner and Tucker following the film’s release. They informed him, “Dude, we’re an enormous success. We had 70 million visitors in the first weekend.”
“I have no idea how many seventy million is,” Chan replied. “I am unaware of the box office. I have no doubt that it will be a success.”
He said, “They then created parts two and three.”
