At ‘Zombieland,’ the NYPD’s hands are tied | Urban Legend with Kevin Sheehan

Heroin addicts have taken over a block at 126th Street and Park Avenue in East Harlem in what The Post described on its cover on November 6 as “the zombie apocalypse.” The Harm Reduction Legislative Package has decriminalized the selling and possession of hypodermic needles in public. On the same block, the group On Point NYC assists drug users in using illegal substances responsibly in an effort to reduce fatalities.

When “Urban Legend” host Kevin Sheehan investigated the incident, he discovered “open-air drug transactions and people shooting up in front of dozens of police officers.” A local resident told Sheehan that addicts “robbing, stealing, and asking for money.” Police officers in New York City have been advised not to make arrests for public drug usage.
