US Coast Guard said Monday that authorities are searching for two men who set sail from New Jersey aboard a 30-foot vessel that is “overdue” for its arrival in Florida.
Kevin Hyde, 64, and Joe DiTommasso, 76, sailed Cape May on the Catalina sailboat named “Atrevida II” on December 3, according to the Coast Guard, and were last seen leaving Oregon Inlet, North Carolina.
Officials from the Coast Guard believe the vessel may have docked near Morehead City, North Carolina, but emphasised that this is not verified.
Marathon, Florida was meant to be the last destination for the New Jersey-flagged vessel.
According to the Coast Guard, the vessel has a bluish-purple hull, a white superstructure, and white sails.
The Coast Guard stated in a social media post that they are “looking for your help in locating an overdue 30-foot Catalina sailboat”.
