The second half of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s controversial documentary “Harry & Meghan” is now streaming on Netflix. In it, Harry claims that his brother William “bullied” him out of the royal family, and that his father Charles “lied” and may have leaked stories about the couple to the press.
In the final three episodes of the docuseries, which features Harry, Meghan, and their friends discussing everything from their wedding to their step back from royal life to their life in California with their children, Harry reveals that after the couple’s plans to leave the United Kingdom, they will move to California with their children. There was a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II at her residence in Sandringham. William and Charles were also present, and according to Harry, tensions rose.
“It was scary to have my brother yell and rage at me, my father utter untrue things, and my grandmother silently take it all in,” Harry claimed in the document, without specifying what they were saying.
“When I returned to my car following the meeting, I was informed that my brother and I had issued a joint statement refuting the rumor that he had forced us out of the family,” he explained. “I was unable to believe it. No one had asked me for permission to sign my name to such a statement. And I called Meghan and told her, causing her to cry uncontrollably. Because within four hours they were willing to lie to protect my brother, but for three years they refused to speak the truth to protect us, he stated.
The first three episodes of “Harry & Meghan,” which broadcast last week to an estimated 28 million households, were more focused on Markle’s family, their first meeting and courting, and Markle’s encounters with the British press. Harry also reflected on his “shame” after the Nazi uniform costume incident. The focus of the second three episodes is on Harry’s family and the couple’s journey to California.
In the second half of the “Harry & Meghan” documentary series, Harry also claims that his father and brother leaked and “traded” details about the couple to the media (which, as he explains, is when a member of the royal family offers the press a story on a different member, in order to try to extinguish stories about themselves). Harry stated that he and William agreed to never engage in the practice of “story trading,” but William broke their agreement.
“It was devastating to witness my brother’s office copy something we both swore we would never do,” Harry stated, without revealing which rumors William was attempting to suppress about himself. Previously, there were suspicions that Prince William was having an affair, but these were dismissed as “false rumors.”
Harry reportedly accused King Charles of leaking the news that he and Meghan intended to move to Canada to the media. The Sun broke this news in January 2020. According to Harry, the fact that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were willing to give up their titles was “the giveaway that it had been leaked.”
Harry said regarding the royal family, “I’ve had to accept the likelihood that we’ll never receive genuine accountability or an apology.”
