To suggest that Raymond Roberts Sr., a citizen of Massachusetts, is fortunate would be an understatement.
The Vietnam-era veteran won the lotto six times in a single drawing on December 13 for a total jackpot of over $2 million, which he attributes to his “intuition.”
The Fall River guy, who purchased his Lucky for Life lottery tickets at the local Royal Liquors, wrote the same number on each of them. He claimed the numbers had unique significance.
It was a combination of anniversary dates and birthdays that he has played in many games for over 20 years, according to a press release from the lottery.
Roberts claimed his winnings on Thursday of last week. On five of his winnings, he took the $390,000 cash option for a total of $1.95 million before taxes.
On the sixth reward of $390,000, however, Roberts elected to receive annual instalments of $25,000.
The six-time lottery winner stated that he intends to purchase a motorcycle with a share of his prize money. He explained to lottery authorities that he chose to purchase six identical tickets out of pure intuition.
The lottery has awarded a total of $30,000 in incentives to the retailer where Roberts purchased his winning tickets.
