A woman who was caught driving on a frozen canal in Indianapolis was arrested for drunk driving on Christmas night when her vehicle broke through the ice.
Fox 59 reported that Biankia Gleason, 33, had to be rescued from the freezing waters after her GPS led her to drive onto the canal at Colts Playspace. Gleason told the responding firemen that her GPS had taken her to the canal.
She told the local station that she drove down an embankment through the park and into the ice until she reached a dead end and turned around.
A shocking web video catches a portion of Gleason’s journey as she drives underneath a bridge and past ice skaters on a frozen canal as they react in surprise.
Moments later, another video depicts a bird’s-eye perspective of the automobile, nose-first in the swift-moving water.
Gleason said to firefighters that her GPS instructed her to enter the canal.
She escaped the submerged vehicle with the assistance of spectators after it broke through the ice.
Fox 59 stated that bystanders assisted Gleason in escaping the partially submerged vehicle and landing safely, where she was examined by first responders.
According to the outlet, she was subsequently arrested and placed into a local jail before posting bond.
