»2023 SADC Media Awards are now open to South African journalists«
The competition for the 2023 SADC Media Awards is already accepting submissions from South African media.
The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) announced on Wednesday that journalists from Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states are eligible for the SADC Media Awards.
“The first prize winners will receive their prizes and certificates on the margins of the SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government that will take place in August 2023.
“The first prize winner in each category receives US$2,500 and the runner-up receives US$1000,” the GCIS said.
The SADC Media Awards were founded in 1996 to recognise the finest media efforts in promoting regional cooperation and integration via the dissemination of information about SADC.
To promote regional integration and cooperation (cross-border concerns), the awards seek to recognise excellence in print, photo, television, and radio journalism and encourage media practitioners in member nations to address regional subject matters.
The website www.gcis.gov.za has further information on the competition for journalists who desire to compete.
