This week, Christina Applegate stated that she is “nervous” about attending her first awards presentation since 2019 and since her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021.
Therefore, this Sunday will be the first awards ceremony I’ve attended since 2019. And the first since MS. SCARED! But thankful to @CriticsChoice for including me,” tweeted Applegate on Thursday.
She is nominated for her performance in “Dead to Me” as Jen Harding.
In February, the actress is also up for best actress at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
“Thank you @SAGawards for today’s nomination!” she tweeted on Wednesday. Since 1975, I have been a proud member of this union. I’ve had a really difficult year, but this made me grin today. Much love to my peers, my dear Jean Smart, and the other extraordinary women I walk with.”
This is her third nomination at the Critics’ Choice Awards for “Dead to Me.”
So this Sunday will be the first awards ceremony I’ve attended since the year 2019. And the first since MS. SCARED! However, I am thankful to @CriticsChoice for including me.

In November of 2012, Applegate was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Before the ceremony, she joked that she was deciding between several “fancy” walking sticks to use at her first major function since her diagnosis.
“Walking sticks have become a normal part of my life,” Applegate wrote at the time. She accepted her award barefoot and tweeted, “For individuals with MS, the sensation of shoes can be painful or make us feel unbalanced. So today I was me. Barefoot.”
In the midst of filming the final season of “Dead to Me,” Applegate was diagnosed with cancer; however, after a five-month treatment hiatus, she returned to complete the series.
On November 14, 2022, Applegate earned her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; this was her first major accomplishment since her diagnosis.
She reported that the actors and crew were really encouraging.
If I contacted them in the morning and said, “Guys, I can’t get down the stairs,” they would respond, “OK! We will not today. We’ll do other things,’ Applegate told Kelly Clarkson the previous year. Netflix even allowed us to take a vacation for a few months so I could grieve and seek treatment.
In 2008, the “Bad Moms” actress fought breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy, as well as the removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes.
