The CSA has been searching for Mark Boucher’s replacement coaches for a considerable amount of time, having previously decided to divide the duties between two coaches. One will coach the Proteas’ Test team, while the other will be in charge of the limited-overs squads.
As anticipated, CSA revealed on Monday that Shukri Conrad and Rob Walter will assume the unique duties. Conrad will be in charge of the Test setting, and Walter will be responsible for the shorter forms.
Prior to this announcement, Malibongwe Maketa served as the temporary coach for the disastrous Proteas Test visit to Australia. Maketa was reportedly considered for a permanent role alongside Richard Pybus, Adi Birrel, and Lance Klusener, until Klusener withdrew.
Neither Conrad nor Walter have previously led a senior international team, but both have vast experience in South Africa’s domestic system.
The coaching position for the Proteas is vacant as a result of Mark Boucher’s decision in September to resign as national coach following the conclusion of the present T20 World Cup.
Boucher was chosen the head coach of the Mumbai Indians of the Indian Premier League (IPL) immediately after announcing his resignation from the South Africa post.
