Later in 2023, South African drivers will be issued new licenses. This is how they will appear!
Fikile Mbalula, minister of transport, declared that the government will begin testing a new driver’s license card.
Since 1998, South Africa has been using licenses that are, predictably, no longer up to international requirements.
According to the KFM website, the trial rollout of the new license will begin on 1 November 2023 and continue until March 2024.
BELOW, THE FRONT OF THE LICENSE CARD WILL APPEAR AS FOLLOWS:
The new license card will provide further enhancements, which seem promising in principle.
The new card will be valid for eight years, as opposed to the present validity period of five.
Expect an expansion of the smart enrollment system for online booking and license renewals, motorists.
The intelligent system connects directly with the Department of Home Affairs to ensure that applicants’ pictures, fingerprints, and other information are checked and captured in real time, thereby making online processes simpler and faster.
Until your province determines whether or not to enroll on the internet platform, you will be required to visit a Department of Licence Testing Centre (DLTC) for fingerprint capture and eye exams.
