Kathryn Tappen is returning to prime-time football sideline reporting, according to The Post.
According to sources, Tappen will be the sideline reporter for NBC’s Big Ten football coverage. In the fall, NBC debuts its new prime-time package.
She was in line to replace Michele Tafoya as the sideline reporter for “Sunday Night Football.” It was common knowledge in the industry, but nothing was documented.
Due to this oversight, it did not occur, and Melissa Stark instead won the coveted job on the No. 1 primetime show beginning this season.
NBC attempted to get Tappen to play golf, but that is not her sport, so it did not work out.
Tappen has also recently worked on NHL and “The Match” for TNT, which could lead to other opportunities.
Kathryn Tappen will serve as the sideline reporter for NBC’s primetime coverage of Big Ten football.
According to an earlier story by The Post, Noah Eagle and Todd Blackledge will command NBC’s Big Ten booth, while Maria Taylor will oversee the studio.
NBC Sports refused to comment.
