Police shot a 48-year-old man after he pointed a gun at officers at a rural police station.
At 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, the armed man approached police at the Tenterfield police station in northern New South Wales.
The victim died at the scene despite the efforts of attending police and medical personnel.
Officers from the Homicide Squad of the State Crime Command’s Critical Incident Team will now examine the incident’s circumstances.
Additionally, it will investigate the firing of a police gun.
Independent review will be conducted on the investigation.
