Why Carrie Underwood stopped exercising “to reach a certain weight”

Carrie Underwood’s fitness objectives have “shifted” now that she is a mother of two and must combine life on the road with her family.

In an interview with People, the 39-year-old “American Idol” veteran confessed that she is more concerned about how her body feels than how it appears.

“I feel like earlier in my career I was working out more to be a certain size or to fit into a certain aesthetic,” she told the publication. “I now believe I exercise more in order to be strong, have energy, and live a long life.”

Especially now that she has 3-year-old Jacob and 7-year-old Isaiah with husband Mike Fisher, Carrie Underwood says she is “playing the long game” with her training regimen.

“I’ve worked out a great deal and been disappointed by the lack of desired results. At this point in my life, I feel as though I have truly learned that it is a lifestyle that requires balance. It means taking care of yourself holistically.”

In reality, caring for her children has been Underwood’s first priority over the past few years; but, that will soon change when she embarks on the second leg of her “Denim & Rhinestones” arena tour.

“When I’m at home, I feel like I’m mom-ing it. She explained, “I do the washing, pack the lunches, and am constantly cleaning. Therefore, when I’m on the road and living on a bus or in a hotel room, I don’t have to do all of that, which frees up some time.

While on tour, Underwood’s “schedule is still very regimented,” she says her mornings are “a little bit more flexible” and she tries to work out even if she doesn’t have access to a lot of equipment.

“I’m glad to have the fit52 application on my phone,” she remarked. Therefore, someone can advise me what to do with limited equipment depending on the hotel we’re staying in or what we have to work with.

She continued, “we simply make things happen when and how they can happen.”

In 2020, after discussing her complicated relationship with food and exercise, Underwood introduced her workout app, fit52, along with a fitness handbook book and apparel line.

Following her 2005 “American Idol” victory, the singer claimed she drastically reduced her caloric intake and began an intensive exercise regimen after reading online criticisms of her physique.

After immediately recognizing that the extreme diet plan made her “feel terrible,” Underwood adopted a more reasonable approach to fitness, which, of course, included red wine.
