Wednesday, anti-monarchy protestors attempted to transform Buckingham Palace into a voting station as they demand a vote on King Charles’s status as head of state.
At approximately 8 a.m., two campaigners from the group Republic, which deemed the coronation a waste of taxpayers’ money, hung a two-meter polling station sign on the elaborate railings of the historic royal castle.
The group, which is fighting for an elected head of state, has vowed to stage additional stunts leading up to Charles’s coronation on May 6, as well as a massive rally on that day.
Graham Smith, spokesman for the Republic, stated, “We want to emphasize the need for a vote on the future of the monarchy.” We should be allowed to choose between Charles and another option.
Republic, an anti-monarchy organization, deemed the coronation a waste of tax dollars because it demands an elected head of state.
“Within a few days, tens of thousands of individuals have signed a petition calling for a referendum on the monarchy. In the following weeks, we anticipate tens of thousands more individuals to add their names to the demand.
Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m., citizens are urged to erect their own polling station signage across the country. It is time to drive home the point that the people deserve the right to vote.

It is time for a popular referendum on the monarchy’s future.
With Charles’ coronation in May, now is the time to have a serious discussion about the future of this nation.
In just three months, the King will be anointed and crowned in Westminster Abbey in an ancient process filled with pomp and circumstance.
It will be part of a weekend of festivities that will include feature a parade from the Palace, a balcony appearance, and a performance at Windsor Castle.
