A small boy was taken to the hospital after being struck by lightning on a beach in Wollongong.
On Australia Day, the 10-year-old was swimming at Warrilla Beach, Barrack Point, near Shellharbour, NSW, when he was struck by lightning.
At 5:25 p.m., emergency personnel raced to the scene and treated him for chest burns.
He was then transported by ambulance to the Westmead Children’s Hospital, where his status is stable.
Thursday’s high temperature in the region was in the 30s before a cloud front swept in.
More to come.
