This year, the procession takes place on March 4, beginning as usual in the de Waterkant neighborhood of Green Point.
This is always a boisterous and vibrant event where members of the various LGBTQI+ community march to celebrate Pride.
In accordance with this year’s theme, #KnowYourTruth, the parade provides a place where individuals can be themselves among like-minded individuals.
As Covid limitations do not apply this year, the organizers are pleased to announce that floats will return to the 2023 Cape Town Pride Parade.
There will be marchers from numerous LGBTQI+ organizations in the Mother City, as well as a pipe band, minstrel troupes, and many others. Anyone may participate in the parade.
The parade begins at noon at the intersection of Alfred Street and Prestwich Street in de Waterkant.
As is customary, Mr. and Miss Cape Town Pride will lead the procession, followed by the ever-popular bikers from Ride with Pride and a variety of skateboarders and roller skaters.
As soon as the procession reaches Somerset Road, it will make a brief stop at the new Rainbow Crossing for the formal ribbon cutting and parade’s commencement.
It will travel along Somerset Road and Main Road at Green Point, turn right into Granger Bay Boulevard, proceed around the Helen Suzman Boulevard circle, and end at the Green Point A Track.
Participants and spectators are encouraged to keep an eye out for parade marshals in yellow t-shirts stationed at various intersections along the route.
To ensure everyone’s safety, we ask everyone to heed the marshals’ and Traffic Police’s instructions.
After the Cape Town Pride Parade, tickets to the Pride Mardi Gras at the Green Point A Track are available via Quicket for R50 per person.
It is advisable to purchase tickets in advance to prevent lines at the gates. Tickets will be available at the entrance, however only credit cards will be accepted for payment.
