A man was found dead immediately after fleeing from police, prompting the initiation of an investigation.
Friday at 11.30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the southwest Rockhampton suburb Allenstown in central Queensland.
They had received a complaint of a stolen vehicle that had traveled approximately 100 kilometers from the adjacent city of Gladstone.
They successfully used a tire deflation device and brought the vehicle to a stop just before midnight.

Friday at 11.30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the southwest Rockhampton suburb Allenstown in central Queensland.
The car’s male driver then fled on foot into the park, where the police were unable to locate him.
On Saturday morning, police began their search for the missing man, but a member of the public discovered his body in the river at the base of a high embankment.
The State Coroner was informed about the event, and the Ethical Standards Command will conduct an investigation.
The probe is subject to the Crime and Corruption Commission’s independent oversight.
