A creature on the field and a socialite at the bar.
Rob Gronkowski, a four-time Super Bowl champion, revealed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that he believes partying made him an NFL superstar tight end.
The native of Buffalo first attributed his hometown with turning him into the notoriously charismatic party animal he is renowned for among admirers.
“I had nothing but a nice time growing up. I’m from Buffalo,” Gronkowski told Fallon. “The Buffalo Bills Mafia is tailgating. They are leaping from RVs onto tables and bursting open. This is how I was raised.”
The five-time Pro Bowler told Fallon that he would tell everyone that partying makes him a “better player on the field”
Gronkowski stated that he researched how partying improved his performance as a tight end.
“Well, you know, I’m hauling my companions throughout the pub. I’m supporting them! I’m lifting. I’m curling their hair! On my back, I am bouncing up and down! I am dancing continuously. Kinda like Austin Butler. I’m gyrating!”
The 33-year-old former tight end found that all of his exciting bar exercises “transferred” to the football field.
Yes, of course it does, Fallon responded sarcastically.
With the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles set for Super Bowl LVII, Fallon asked Gronk who he believes will be declared winner.
I would argue that Philadelphia has played more as a team throughout the entire season. I will root for the Eagles.”
Gronkowski, who retired for the first time in 2019, only to come out of retirement to join his old New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and win another Super Bowl in 2020, will retire for the second time in June 2022.
Fallon questioned Gronkowski, “How close were you to playing this season?”
Alumni of the Arizona Wildcats claimed he came “pretty close” to returning to the field during the season, stating that he “sometimes missed it.”
“I occasionally missed it, but not really. Then I would miss it for maybe an hour, but after a workout I would say, “Nah, I don’t miss it. I lack even the energy to exercise.”
Gronk disclosed that, with a few weeks remaining in the season, he received a few phone calls and “took them seriously.”
“I took a five-day break to determine if I truly wanted to return,” Gronkowski told Fallon, emphasizing that he had always been an athlete. He had to consider it based on the opportunity alone.
The 2014 Comeback Player of the Year stated that he never considered returning during those five days and respectfully informed the teams that contacted him that he would not be participating.
Gronkowski disclosed that Brady had attempted to convince him to rejoin the Buccaneers, but he ultimately declined.
He encourages me throughout the year, regardless of whether I am playing football or not.
