Adriana Kuch, a New Jersey teen, committed herself earlier this month, and her father plans to sue the school district for failing to address the bullying they believe led to her death, according to his attorney.
The attorney for Adriana Kuch’s father, Michael Kuch, said in a statement to The Post on Friday, “We are investigating all possible legal claims arising from her tragic death.”
This lists potential lawsuits filed against Central Regional High School in Bayville, New Jersey.
Adriana, age 14, committed herself on February 3, two days after she was violently beaten by classmates in the CRHS hallway and video of the incident went viral on the Internet.
Krais stated that Kuch’s family was preparing for a legal battle by filing a Tort Claims Notice against the Central Regional Board of Education.
“In the interim, we will investigate not only the vicious bullying by Adriana’s classmates at the school, but also the administration’s lack of intervention and supervision leading up to this attack, as well as its failure to involve law enforcement immediately after the attack,” he said.
“The administration’s role in Adriana’s tragic death will be revealed, and Mr. Kuch will pursue the truth through every legal means available for the sake of his family and the community,” he stated.
Adriana’s death provoked considerable criticism of the district for allegedly failing to appropriately address the school’s persistent bullying problems.
After persistent criticism from Adriana’s family and student protests, Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides abruptly resigned over the weekend.
At Thursday’s school board meeting, the first in the area since Adriana’s murder, students and parents criticized the administration for failing to take action against bullying.
Hailie Engesser, one of the teen’s friends, told the Ocean County board in a full auditorium, “[Adriana] had already filed multiple reports about how she was being bullied, and you guys just sat there and did nothing.”
Numerous other kids reported being bullied at CRHS and said that the administration neglected to address their complaints on multiple occasions.
Michael Kuch told The Post before Thursday’s dramatic outburst that he would not rest until the district took responsibility.
He stated, “I want the entire administration to be removed.”
The apparent imminence of the Kuch family’s legal action is not the only legal issue facing the district this year: Rachael O’Dea, a former parent at CRHS, filed a complaint against the district on behalf of her daughter Olivia in October 2022, alleging that she was ignored by authorities after being abused and ridiculed at school last winter.
Online, a video of Adriana’s assault was made available.
“It’s a disgrace that [the bullying] continues,” O’Dea told NJ Advance Media last week on Adriana’s death.
“There is no accountability [at the school], and no adjustments are being implemented. They are familiar with this.”
