Chiefs lost to Arrows despite taking the lead twice breaking negative PSL records this season

Kaizer Chiefs are setting numerous unwanted records in the current PSL season, with the latest one taking 18 years to match after their 3-2 loss to Golden Arrows.

Despite leading twice on the day, Chiefs suffered their eighth league defeat of the campaign as S’fiso Hlanti and Mduduzi Shabalala scored for them, while Knox Mutizwa’s brace and Ntsako Makhubele’s goal secured the maximum points for Arrows.

According to OptaJabu, this was the first time since 2005 that Chiefs lost a match after surrendering their lead in the final 30 minutes of the game. In 2005, Chiefs had squandered their lead against the now-defunct Platinum Stars after scoring first and eventually losing.

They had led Platinum Stars 1-0, but they surrendered the lead in the final 30 minutes and lost 2-1. Moreover, Chiefs had also lost to the same opponent, with the same scenario after leading 2-0, that same year with a 4-2 scoreline.
