An £89 million deal to a big Premier League team, rumored to be Manchester United, was purportedly stopped in January by Dusan Vlahovic’s agency.
In January 2022, Juventus paid Fiorentina £62.8 million to acquire the Serbian attacker. He chose the Old Lady over Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, who are currently leading the Premier League.
Yet the Serie A team may need to sell the 23-year-old sooner than anticipated given that Juventus was penalized and docked 15 points in addition to their pre-existing financial issues.
The club did, in fact, negotiate his sale to a prominent Premier League team during the January transfer window, according to Spanish source AS. The club in question, according to the article, is none other than Manchester United of England.
According to reports, Juventus demanded more than £89m for the attacker. The contract was about to be finalized when Vlahovic’s agent called off the negotiations.
Hence, the Red Devils were forced to settle for a short-term fix in the form of Burnley’s Wout Weghorst. But, Erik ten Hag’s team is unlikely to make the Dutchman’s move a long-term one in the summer, so they might be interested in Vlahovic once more after the end of the campaign.
They will have to outbid other interested parties for his services because the report names Real Madrid as another possible location.
In contrast, Vlahovic has scored eight goals in 14 Serie A contests this year. With their points punishment, Juventus is currently in eighth place, while United is third in the Premier League after an impressive debut season under Ten Hag.
