During an interview with ABC News host David Muir on Friday, President Biden responded to a question about the discovery of sensitive material in boxes stored in his garage and old office, stating that he has handled the situation “fundamentally different” than his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.
Biden argued that there are degrees of irresponsibility and that not everything was gone through as meticulously as it should have been when boxes were packed up from his vice presidential office at the end of Barack Obama’s presidency.
However, he noted that there have been very few documents confiscated or found in his possession, and he claimed that he does not know of anything that was marked top secret or highly classified.
Biden also emphasized his cooperation with authorities, stating that he has voluntarily done everything he was asked to do and invited the Justice Department to come into any place he had control of.
He further noted that there was no need for search warrants, and he has opened up all of his homes to the FBI.
Biden asserted that there was no intention to mishandle sensitive material and that his response to finding improperly stored classified material was fundamentally different from Trump’s.
Finally, he claimed that there is nothing for him to hide.
