On Friday, President Biden announced new sanctions against prominent Russians to mark the first anniversary of the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.
However, Hunter Biden’s alleged business associate, Yelena Baturina, was not included in the list, despite allegedly paying $3.5 million to a firm associated with Hunter Biden in February 2014 while his father was vice president.
Records from Hunter Biden’s laptop later revealed that he met with Baturina and his business partner less than two months later in Italy.
The Biden administration has adopted more than 2,500 sanctions to cripple Russia’s economy and stop the war, but Baturina was not among the 200 people and entities sanctioned on Friday, which the White House did not comment on.
Baturina’s financial links to the Bidens, including her alleged funds in US real estate purchases, remain murky, and there are questions about her financial dealings with the Bidens.
Hunter Biden is currently under criminal investigation by the US attorney’s office in Delaware for possible tax fraud, money laundering, illegal foreign lobbying, and lying about his drug use on a gun-purchase form.
