A grandmother was violently attacked by a dog while walking her own pet in Curtis Wetlands park in Munno Para, Adelaide. Lea Hockley was out for an evening stroll with her dog Trixie when a big black dog leapt out and grabbed her arm, dragging her to the ground.
She spent the night in the emergency department with severe bruising and cuts. Ms Hockley claims the other dog owner did little to help, pulling her pet away but leaving without offering any apology or giving her details. She has reported the incident to the police and local council, guessing that the dog may have been a staffy or a pit bull.
Ms Hockley said that she had to rip her arm out of the dog’s mouth and is still in shock. She also said that there was no concern or questions from the other pet owner.
Fortunately, her dog Trixie managed to escape unharmed. Ms Hockley’s family had given Trixie to her after the death of her husband, and she is devastated that Trixie could have been severely injured in the attack.
The incident has left her traumatised.
