Buster Murdaugh, the surviving son of convicted killer Alex Murdaugh, remained expressionless as a South Carolina jury delivered a guilty verdict on all charges against his father in the double-homicide trial.
The 26-year-old sat a few rows behind his father, with his left hand resting on the side of his face, as each jury member confirmed the verdict. While his father was being led from the courtroom in handcuffs, Alex Murdaugh said a few words to his lawyer but did not acknowledge Buster, who remained seated.
The trial, which lasted several weeks, involved allegations that Alex Murdaugh murdered his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, in 2021 at the family’s Islandton estate.
Buster testified in support of his father last Tuesday, which seemed to bring a momentary smile to his father’s face, who even patted his son’s buttocks during a break in the testimony.
Buster’s behavior during the trial has been closely monitored, with onlookers noticing that he buried his head in his hands during his father’s cringe-worthy testimony last week.
Despite frequently breaking down in tears and being overcome with emotions during the trial, Alex Murdaugh was emotionless when his guilty verdict was announced. He is a disgraced and disbarred legal scion, and sentencing is scheduled for Friday morning at 9:30.
