According to the Miami Beach Police Department, two males were shot and one person was detained at the scene, although it was not immediately clear if the person held was the shooter.

Police also reported that three guns were recovered.

The shooting occurred on Ocean Drive, a popular destination for spring breakers that is closed to vehicle traffic during its busiest stretch.

One of the victims died at a hospital, while the other was listed in critical condition.

The identities of the victims were not released, and it is unclear what led to the shooting.

Authorities said that dozens of people fled the scene as the gunfire broke out.

The area was cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape, and no other information was immediately available.

This shooting is the second in as many years to occur during spring break on South Beach.

Following two shootings on Ocean Drive last year, the city imposed a midnight curfew.

In the year before that, about 1,000 arrests were made, and numerous guns were confiscated during a rowdy spring break, which prompted Miami Beach officials to take measures aimed at calming the situation.
