Tragic Accident on I-695 Leaves Six Highway Workers Dead
A devastating accident occurred on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, on Interstate 695 in Baltimore County, Maryland. The accident resulted in the loss of six highway workers’ lives.
According to the Maryland State Police, the accident occurred when Lisa Adrienna Lea attempted to change lanes, striking the front passenger side of a Volkswagen, which caused her to lose control of her Acura vehicle.

The Acura veered into the highway work zone between the temporary jersey walls, hitting six workers who were present there. The names of the six workers who lost their lives in the accident were released by the police on Thursday.
They were identified as Rolando Ruiz, Carlos Orlando Villatoro Escobar, Jose Armando Escobar, Mahlon Simmons III, Mahlon Simmons II, and Sybil Lee Dimaggio.
Injuries and Response
The only occupant of the Acura, Lisa Adrienna Lea, was transported to the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Shock Trauma Center, where she remains receiving medical treatment as of Thursday.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Melachi Brown, did not suffer any injuries in the accident.
