Danielle Gross, a 26-year-old content creator, and Gunnar Michels, also 26, are strangers who met through a video posted on TikTok.
After less than a week of chatting, Gunnar proposed to Danielle in her hometown, and they married in Las Vegas, two weeks later.
The couple’s original plan was to divorce a week after the wedding, but as they got to know each other, their relationship blossomed.
Falling in love
As they started to travel around America, they fell in love and are now settled and looking to buy a home together.
Danielle had always imagined that she would get married in a “silly way,” and when she saw Gunnar’s video asking a stranger to marry him, she knew that it was the perfect opportunity to fulfil that dream.
Life on the road
Gunnar had the idea to find a stranger to marry him during the pandemic in January 2021.
He was looking for a way to make content and meet people, so he decided to get married to a stranger.
Danielle was one of the thousands of strangers competing for Gunnar’s marriage, and after he picked her, the couple started chatting and FaceTimed twice before he surprised her by proposing.
A healthy relationship
Although the couple was not expecting their marriage to last, they found themselves building a healthy relationship as they travelled across the US in a converted ambulance.
Danielle said their personalities complement each other, and they have the same core values, even though their personalities are different.
An open-minded concept
Danielle and Gunnar say that their families are happy for them, and their friends are amazed that they are still together.
The couple is still in love and still spontaneous, and they suggest that others try the concept of marrying a stranger if they are open-minded.
The experience opened their eyes to other people, and it was an interesting way to meet someone.
